Deloitte’s bold office makeover

Not a new one, but a good one: in 2019, Deloitte’s London HQ at 1 New Street Square underwent a major upgrade. Spanning 270,000 sq ft, this refurbishment turned an old building into a sleek, eco-friendly workspace where people and planet go hand in hand.

The team behind the transformation

Here’s who (amongst many others) pulled off this transformation:

  • ID: Designed the user-friendly and sustainable workspace.
  • Overbury PLC: Managed the fit-out and refurbishment process.
  • Hoare Lea LLP: Handled the BREEAM assessment.
  • AECOM, Buro Happold, Sheppard Robson: Contributed their specialised knowledge to various aspects of the project.
  • the building’s components.

Top marks for sustainability

The building scored a striking 94% on the BREEAM scale, setting a serious bar for green offices. With smart lighting and water systems that help save energy and reduce waste, it’s clear that this space is as practical as it is planet-friendly.

Design with purpose

Deloitte’s revamped office was both the largest in the world, and the first one in London with a WELL Gold certification – truly emphasising employee well-being. The design encourages movement and collaboration, featuring flexible work areas, breakout spaces, and varied seating. Meeting rooms are tailored to boost creativity and efficiency, with different finishes and colours that inspire. Many rooms are set up for standing meetings, helping to keep discussions focused and productive.

Nature inside

The design of the office brings nature indoors. The Terrace area includes an indoor garden, providing a relaxing green space high above the London streets. Leaf-patterned ceilings throughout the office add a touch of nature and create a calming atmosphere.
