Ian Potter Southbank Centre | Melbourne, Australia

100% electric zero-carbon has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? This Melbourne building gives sustainability a musical twist 🎶

Ian Potter Southbank Centre, located in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct in Southbank, is the new home for the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. One of several Green Star rated buildings in the University of Melbourne campus, the building has achieved a 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built v1.1 certification 🏆

How is Ian Potter tackling climate change? Here’s just a glimpse:

🪵 Timber was primarily used during construction due to its sustainability, biophilic and acoustic benefits, with an additional focus on air tightness to reduce the use of heating and cooling.

⚡The building also includes LED lighting, a thermally efficient façade, and roughly 25% of the electricity consumed is generated through onsite solar panels – with the rest supplied via a Purchase Power Agreement between the University and the Murra Warra Wind Farm.
